So... tax return came... and guess what that meant! Yup, my K5 was about to get a trans rebuild so I can put it back on the road!

Theres a lot of un-necessary details I will leave out, so Ill just cut to the beef.

Upon my first visit, before deciding with them... I check out the shop. The floor and work benches are neat, orderly and clean! The technicians (both of them!) were very smart and neat in appearance. A local 4X4 club suggested them, and Im damn glad they did!

All in all, it cost me about $1,600... but I ended up with a new case (PO tried a rebuild and screwed up the case, the valve body, sun gear, list goes on...) and all new internal parts.

Its been about 6 months since they did the rebuild, so I am now comfortable with a review.

The trans shifts like a monster, 1-2 is a hard hitter... 2-3 is pretty smooth with minimal overlap, 3-4 is like cotton. TV cable must be adjusted perfectly, pressures and shift points appear to be dead balls on!

No overheating, and NO LEAKING WHAT SO EVER!

I cannot recommend these guys enough. Great service at a reasonable price... I do NOT mind paying more for quality!!

Hope that helps someone...

Good that you found a decent shop. Some can be a real joke and leave you with a leaky mess.

How close to Salem do you live? We are over in Covington.
