Previous blazers were a 70, 71 and 91 Jimmy. All in the past. Going into retirement with a new project. It's been a long time since I've done this and just want some recommendations as to what I need to plan on replacing.

1977 K5 4 speed manual, 350.
The truck is stock and decent for it's age. I plan on new suspension, brakes, rotors/drums, wheel bearings, steering components, fluids, spark plugs, etc. Currently have no idea about which transfer case or axles/gears it has.

Just looking for recommendations on things I know I will need to replace to get it road worthy. I want this to be may daily driver, but probably won't get more than 50 miles from home in it.

There are a lot of posts here about wiring issues on newly purchased trucks. Look the wiring over well, check or refresh grounds, buy spare fuses. Maybe headlight upgrades.
And new wiper blades! ( I always forget these, until it rains)

Yes, I expect to chase electrical gremlins for awhile. It has a tach mounted on the steering column, an oil pressure gage under the dash that doesn't appear to be wired to anything, a trailer brake controller (I think), and several areas of spliced wires. Probably will eventually have to replace most of the wiring harnesses. Who knows what's happened over the last 40+ years.

I always replace every fluid, basic tune up stuff, look for anything obviously dangerous and drive it on short trips for awhile to see what works and what doesn’t

If it is a factory setup, the transfer case will be an NP205. Is there a SPID in the glovebox?

Post pictures.

If you're still on the island, get rust preventative on it NOW and refresh it every year, and post some pics! How's the tires look? I'm currently working on getting rubber that isn't over 20 years old on my 79

Everything that has already been mentioned and to include hoses and vacuum lines, especially if its been sitting. Way jealous of the 4 speed. My Jimmy is a 77 and came stock with a NP203, so yours may or may not. I would also double check for rust and cancer on the rig. And must have pics....

The SM465 with the NP203 was only available in 1974 and 1975 (and only in trucks ordered with a V8 engine).

I figured as much. I was saying he has a four speed, so he most likely does not have an NP203.

I wonder why they did it that way. Either way, I hear Pink Floyd in the back ground....

Welcome my son, welcome, to the machine.....
