Back In the Saddle Again

The TMI weld on beadlocks are the ones I want to do. I have 16x7 steelies and they are supposed to widen them by 1.5" I think so it would work good for me. They also have an anti-coning feature that prevents the bolt on ring from bending when tightened down. I think I saw a YouTube video on it.

Ok this from top (nearest rotor) to bottom (nearest wheel) is how I have them going in the hub. There is nowhere this key way will fit. Torqued the inner to 50ft lbs and backed it off.

Looks like the kit didn’t come with a lock nut with keyways it just came with 4 regular spindle nuts. :1zhelp:

with that style nuts and lock washer the key is not used. The needs a single nut with slot cuts and is held in place by a very thin spring coil the fits in the spindle threads.

1st the flat washer, then tighten the inner nut, while rotating hub. Torque to 50 ft pounds(lubed bearings) back off at least 1/4 turn, so that nearest tab lines up, longer tab to out side add outer nut torque to 50 ft pd then line up tap with slot and bend tab into slot.

I left the bearings dry thinking they are oil bath and adding grease would cause bearing wear quicker by not letting gear oil onto them when greased up.

Ok so I’m confused on which tab to bend into the slot. Is this laid out in the correct order?

thats the spring but looks like a sucky one, the oem was 3 full coils. still won't work with those nuts

If you want to run 16.5" tires, just use stock steel wheels with safety beads. I run them at 8-10 psi, and have no problems losing seat.

Found a set of 4 of these good enough to roll the axle in and out. $40

Oh, I also picked up a 3/4 ton D44 for a steal of a price. Will be getting that to my house soon.
Next will be prepping the D44 for crossover as it’s already a nice axle. Not sure of the ratio but I’m hopeful it will be 4.10

Also picked up a SBC standard Bore block to begin the 383 stroker build. It’s a 4 bolt main 010 block looks nice and clean.
