Back In the Saddle Again

Im reading now that they should not be used on there. So I guess I’ll be taking them all off

I don't believe that I have ever seen lock washers on U bolts, even on semis. Only thick flat washers.
I don't know if there is a downside to having them or not.
U bolts usually get regular nuts but the bolt threads are cold rolled not cut, and the nut will cut through the threads and lock.
That is why you don't reuse u bolts I am told.

I have reused u bolts knowing you shouldn't.
It just means you need to check them often because they will loosen

Ace was out of thick flat washers only had 6 in stock and there wasn’t enough provided for me to clear the threads with these leafs. So I grabbed lock washers to make up the difference. But it sounds like that was a dumb idea.

Maybe grab some thick Ubolt plates from ORD or DIY4X. I had to use my factory ones a few times and they ended up getting bent. The aftermarket ones are way thicker.

Havasu Hardware on McCullough just up of smoketree. Best section in town I have found so far.

I’ll get my wheels and tires swapped on this week hopefully and see what my shackle angle is. Right now it’s looking like 90°

Tractor supply is ok. They didn't have any double ended studs in any size let alone metric, Havasu Hardware did.

The next hurdle is figuring out why my brake pads don’t fit behind the rotor as intended. I’ll have to call ruff stuff and see what’s up. I’ve never heard of someone having to shim their rotor outwards to install this kit. But it’s about .045 too small to fit the pad behind the rotor and it’s the same for both sides.

Before anyone chimes in and says “piston needs to be fully compressed” that’s not the issue here. The pad itself without the caliper will not fit between the caliper mount bracket and rotor.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe this is a dually axle and I was unaware of that fact and I have the caliper brackets for the SRW 14b in the kit when it will require the DRW versions because the flange is closer to the outer axle on the DRW
