Back In the Saddle Again

The only thing I can think of is that maybe this is a dually axle and I was unaware of that fact and I have the caliper brackets for the SRW 14b in the kit when it will require the DRW versions because the flange is closer to the outer axle on the DRW
That was my guess

Do you have a pic of the hubs?
Kert cuts parts as orders come in, he don't keep much of his own parts on the shelf anymore. He builds to order, but call him and he can help you figure this out.

Got this kit from ruff stuff. Should be dual bleed Dana 44 front calipers. I double checked I have the caliper brackets mounted correctly in orientation and I do. So I either need to bend the brackets back a C-H or get new brackets all together. Either way the hubs are coming off

Or find a set of thinner brake pads and just run it. It’s only too small by a fraction of an inch. Just enough to be annoying.

Ok after reading the 14b Bible this is definitely a SRW axle. The flange is where it would be for SRW. Something is wrong with the caliper brackets: they are not bent perfectly to the angle necessary to fit the calipers on. Just not bent enough buy about .050 from caliper bracket to rotor. Almost like an old tool die made the bend and it’s getting tired.

I should have test fit this before making it this far but getting things moved around in my shop isn’t easy and I had to put these roller wheels on that could not facilitate the calipers.

Anyways, I’m going to have to get ahold of ruff stuff because I have made the determination that is is most certainly a SRW which is built correctly.

In the mean time I’ll take my brake pads down and see if I can find a set that’s just a touch thinner

Should be alright. As long as it's not straight up and down or forward of the top eye. Will it settle more? I can't remember if you have new springs or not. Are you gonna add more weight like a spare or gear to the back of this thing?
I seen someone who had disc conversion issues and it was because they needed Ford rotors instead of Chevy ones. I have the Ruff Stuff brackets on a SRW 14 bolt and everything is fine with mine. They are from a lot of years ago though.

These are the original springs so I doubt there will be much settling. I do plan to build some steel bumpers though. I’ll probably add an EZ to the front to level it.

Maybe my springs are sacked out but here's how mine came out, with the 4.5" ORD shackles. IMG_20220621_072355710.jpg
Also I run the ruff stuff kit on my 14 bolt and it fit just fine but it's got the older style calipers with the single bleeder

I think it will settle a bit more. The shackle angle is going the correct way.

Instead of shimming rotor, sounds like a pair of flat washers between caliper brackets and flange might be all you need

That would make the gap tighter

I bet the angle gets better with a little weight out back. Stock springs without the fiberglass top is going to be a little light.

The bracket mounts to the outward part of the flange. The space between the caliper bracket and rotor is too tight for the pad to fit between them. 85DD8FCE-9466-4A32-B503-2C1085BDC302.png

Just talked with ruff stuff.

They said that around the time I made my order they had some go out that were accidentally over bent.

When I get home I’ll have to measure and see
