Finally sold my shortbed on Friday night... yesterday spent half the day running around looking at diesel trucks off of craigslist. Finally settled on a 1983 Chevy K20 with 230K. 6.2L, 700R4, 3.42 (guessing at this point) 10B/14SF.

Bought it from the original owner who was a heavy equipment construction contractor for many years and kept up good maintenence on the truck. There was a plastic bedliner in the back from day one so the inside of the bed has no scratches or dents :D Unfortunatley the exterior wasn't so lucky. He hit the pass side taillight with a backhoe at some point.

I just need to get my plates transfered over and get it registered after work today. Those pics are all from the original ad... I'll have to get out the camera after work and take some better pics if there is enough light left.

I didn't do too bad... but I never post what I pay for anything because sometimes I end up trying to resell it later :doah: :haha:

Here are some better pics though...

I've been driving it to work and back the last couple days and its doing pretty good. Although the stock radio picks up 3 different stations at once when I get into the city, but only one station out in the country... all without moving the dial.

Looks good man. Anything that old with that many miles up here would be some frame rails, most of a cab (the top half probably), the engine, drivetrain, and axles...

I know... I grew up in the midwest. I love the fact that most vehicles are rust free around here. Just have to put up with the roads coming to a complete stop if/when it actually snows around here due to shortage of equipment, lack of driver knowledge on how to drive on slick/icy roads and cars that are not properly prepared for the stuff.

I also just found an ad for a reasonably priced '82 K30 with a 6.2L as well... I may end up with another truck this weekend and have to look at getting rid of this one already.

Hello...K30! I'd switch in a second provided the body and condition were good!

I have no problem changing trucks often... I usually can resell a truck for a little more than I paid or part it out for more than double anyway. But I have a feeling I'll be doing more shopping for a gas friendly commuter than the one ton this weekend.

Not yet, waiting for a check to show up before I look at anything else. Plus if it sits for sale a little longer and doesn't sell I'll have more room to talk him down ;)
