Hoping you tech savvy brothers can help me out here. Gateway laptop, model number is MT6729. Out of nowhere this thing starts running really slow. Only thing I noticed thats a little odd, was the last time this thing was "rebooted", something funky happened, and the recovery drive (D ended up jam packed, with only 1.05GB of 11.1GB free. Any ideas?

When I go into the recovery drive, i end up in a text file that just says: [AUTORUN]
ShellExecute=Info.exe protect.ed 480 480

When I right click it, it gives me option to format, should I do that? or backup (C then reboot the thing again?

Sorry if I'm seeming uber dumb, I'm usually pretty good at figuring this stuff out

I haven't had to reimage laptops very often, but the strategy seems to be that the installation image is on a seperate partition (D) and all you're doing is installing from that virtual drive back to the main partition (C)

If you take another look at the message you are getting, try to confirm that it's asking you if you want to format the C: partition. Obviously you don't want to do a low-level format (and erase data) on the D: partition where your recovery files are located...but you can safely wipe the C: partition since you are trying to create a clean-slate there anyway.

PS: I'm only helping you because you decided to keep your truck instead of parting it out (and THIS comment makes this post "automotive" and relevant for the forum)
