i just threw in a dana 44 8 lug into my truck and had to grind to get my 15in wheels to fit, i had to grind the backing plates prettymuch into non-exsistence and then some, my question is will the backing plates on newer trucks work on mine? like 8 lug 10 bolts or whatever, i ask this because they look more round to begin with. my axle is a dana 44 hd out of a 73ish. the outermost part of the backing plate is gone, i drove it home like this and didnt seem to have a problem with it, but i dont feel real good about that. has anyone else done this? will the newer backing plates put the rotor in the right spot? somebody should make a backing plate that doesnt require grinding but still puts the caliper in the right spot so all u have to do is grind the caliper
