Hey everyone... So I originally joined CK5 back in 2001 time frame. I built numerous rigs throughout the years and now I am back. So I bought an 89 K5 from Richmond VA. Here in PA we salt the snot out of all the roads so square bodies are getting pretty hard to find. Anyway, I did a complete interior overhaul and went with TMI brand interior. Nice company great product (so far). Now for the dilemma. We all know the folding rear seat, lap belts only, small, not very practical? Well I fixed that. I chose black leather with a red stitch. TMI only makes a cover for the rear seat and I did not like that. So fab time. I saw a buddy post a pic of his 2013 Dodge Caravan and lo and behold, he had black leather with red stitches. The back seat was huge, had three seats and was foldable. I found the exact seat in Michigan at a dump, bought it and had it shipped here. I cut all the frame off the bottom of the seat and bolted the seat pans directly to the bed of the truck. Now that she was secure, we needed seat belts. I wanted retractable shoulder belts and they simply do not make anything that would work for my application. So fab time again. I built a support bracket across the bed and behind the seat, mounted the retractable belts from the Caravan and fabbed some black boxes to cover the retractor. All in all this build cost me around $700 bones and turned out pretty neat. Since I don't have too many folks to share this with, I figured you folks would like it!

i Like the look of the stock seat. Matches the front seats and fits the truck.

If I didn't have 3 rug rats it would've stayed the same and I would have covered it. My front seats are the same pattern so it all matches. Eventually I will put a full interior cage in the rear. I want to design some sort of soft top that can be deployed in case of rain. Thats way down the road.

I've got a Softopper for my 77 Jimmy and while not cheap, it is VERY well made. I really like the zippered rear window. I have my work tools in the back so I am always in and out and the zippers make it so much easier than using the rear window. 75% of what I need I keep on one side so I only have to undo one zipper. We didn't have much of a winter last year but the top dribbled just a bit during the first rain, and then it sealed up and that was it. I have had mine up for a year and while we haven't had a lot of rain, it has survived 116f.
