backspacing

how much for stock lift and 16 or 17" wheels.
how much for 2 1/2" lift and same wheels.
have heard 3 3/4 and 4 1/2, which is it.

There isn't a real clearance issue on the 73-91 rigs. You could run either one, it would be more preference and tire size. Bigger tires will fit better with 4.5" spacing(in away from the fenders more).

Less backspacing puts more stress on just about all of your axles' components as well. Not a big deal with 1 ton axles but it can cause problems elsewhere.

so a 17X8 rim with 4.5 backspacing and 265/70/17 tires will look fine and work fine (stock lift). your 2 cents.........
