Hey all. I was headed north on I-25 about 75 or 80 when the truck started making ticking noises. I paused the cd player to hear what it was. About the time I decided that was a bad sound and I was going to pull over, the right front wheel jammed up and turned me towards the ditch. I hit the binders hard and locked them all up, slid about 250 feet and came to rest in the ditch, still on the wheels. Needless to say, I nearly soiled the truck and I'm pretty sure it would have been a breeze to roll it. Pretty stoked that nothing was worse.
Anyway, just thought I'd share that little story. I got the truck home on a friends trailer. I am trying to get the hub off now. I have the first spindle nut off, the washer and now I'm on the second spindle nut. I broke my breaker bar trying to get it loose. I used a 3 foot cheater and it laughed at me. Wondering if anybodys got any good ideas about that nut. I tried to drill on it a bit but got nowhere. Maybe a big ass rattle gun? Would a chisel cut it? There's a keyway on the left side so I can work without f'ing up the threads. The driver's side came right apart where I found some crappy bearings which was no suprise. I'm a little irritated since the axle has only been under there for a year. I paid a guy with a shop to do it an assumed for what I paid the guy would at least go through the damn bearings. It's called "The Diff Shop" and I'm done doing business with that guy for other reasons besides that.
Sorry to rant but it's been a long day.

That must have been quite the ride! I all ways worry about that. I dont know what to tell ya as far as getting that nut off. On a quick hijack note, got any big pics your avatar?

Big frickin impact gun might do it....
I would try that first.

Of course all my tools are up in Elizabeth. I don't have any here in the Springs so i am not much help.

Thanks anyway man. I used an air chisel to cut it. My impact gun didn't have the cajones to do it. The outer welded it's self to the spindle. I hammered all the roller bearings into the cavity in the middle to get it off. It was awesome..
