Ok I've got a cold-start knock that goes away after a minute, and I know the fan clutch is bad, as it makes the same sound my blown shocks do when I wiggle the fan...
So is it possible for a bad fan clutch to knock when cold?

Sounds more like a lifter is bleeding down after sitting for a while, and then pumping back up when started.

Easy enough fix (I would think, can't imagine a newer truck is any more difficult) to just pull the fan clutch and see. Kind of doubt it, but if it were the problem, that would be probably the best thing to have go wrong. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
