I started another thread this morning about the truck not starting. I thought it was the timing or ignition but after testing the ignition i do have spark and the fuel pump is running. When the motor is cranking the injectors are "dripping" fuel not spraying. Is that how it should be while cranking? Checked the pump relay through the test plug and it lights up fine and i can hear the pump prime when ignition is on. Also noticed the throttle bores kind of have what looks like gummy gas on the edges. Truck has been sitting for a while with old gas but i just put 4 gallons of new stuff in yesterday. Could the gas in the lines be bad? Just kind of at a loss why it wont start, running out of ideas. By the way in last post I said the coil is new and the module tested fine twice. I get a pulsing light from wires for Cyl 1&2 from the tester. Any ideas?

how long has it been sitting? seen a bunch that the rubber hose between the pump and sender rots off.

Been sitting for a little over a year and was driven maybe 3 or 4 times during then. Ill go out and check the hoses over, guess a new filter wouldn't hurt either.

Gas starts to go bad after about 6 months. If the gas has been in there at least that long you should really drain it all and have the tank boiled clean. Bad gas starts to smell like terpentine and becomes very gummy and will clog up fuel injectors, fuel lines, and in your case the TBI unit passages. Sometimes people can get the engine to start on bad gas but what will eventually happen is the gummy fuel will hang a valve open and then the piston will hit it and bend the valve then you have a much bigger problem to deal with. I can't stress enough how important it is to drain all old gas and have the tank boiled clean.

:( ohh boy not was i was hoping for. The truck was running like crap when i moved it to its current location i figured it was the timing or something to do with the MAP sensor since the plug is kinda broken. ill check out the lines and see if there is gummy stuff, then looks like i get to pull the tank which has to be the funnest thing to do in these trucks.

I wouldn't worry as much about the lines as i would the tank and injectors.

I found a place that cleans and flow tests injectors really cheap. I had them do 2 pairs of 454 injectors for me late last year or early this year (can't remember which). http://www.witchhunter.com/

ive got a spare set in the toolbox, do you think changing them out may at least get it to start and move out of the handicapped space i have it in? It was the only open space when it died or i wouldn't worry about it.

The more you try to run it on bad gas the more potential damage you could have. I would get someone to help you push it somewhere else and deal with the problem as i've described. If you have a spare set of injectors it wouldn't hurt to install them AFTER you've drained and had the tank boiled clean.
