So this morning on my way to work my 89 jimmy started shaking real bad but only when I let off the gas. When I was giving it gas it was smooth but i mean the shaking was bad! I just had a new rear ended put in. Could it be my axle u joint? It felt like it was in the driveline. But when I crawled under the truck it wasn’t loose. At least not where I could move it with my hands. No liquids pouring out anywhere and the engine sounds fine. It shifts into gear and reverse and moves fine it just shutters and you can hear a bad clicking sound under the truck near the drive shaft when slowing down

Yes,block the wheels !
Had a friend that didn't,who wasn't that great a mechanic--he took the bolts off at the rear end yoke, and when he pried the u-joint out of the yoke, his truck rolled backwards, the driveway had a slight incline, and luckily he was lying flat on his back, and his truck had enough ground clearance to just leave some nasty greasy scrape marks on his chest & face..

He failed to realize "park" doesn't work with no drive shaft in place!..could have been fatal..

Also re-torque the springs. Loose axle will give a shudder, thou usually under low speed load.

Wont hurt to check the motor and transmission ,transfer case mounts too, maybe they are loose or a bolt came out..

Well guys......try not to laugh. So I went ahead and replaced the u joint the old one was looking rough. And I still had the problem. I realized it sounded more like drivers side maybe the tire? So I went to jack it up and I saw over half my damn lug nuts were almost all the way unscrewed!! Then I walk around and same thing on the other side!! I just got my truck back from having a new rear diff installed so needless to say I’m pretty ****ing mad a mechanic would let a car roll out with the ****ing tire not even tightened. I guess shame on me for not checking but one would think a mechanic would know how to put a damn tire back on. I jack it up tighten everything back and boom I’m golden now.

Good catch. Easy fix.

There was a lawsuit in Wisconsin I think, last week, that said mechanics are not responsible for tightening lug nuts as long as the work listed on the work order was completed.

I can not find the link now.

Now isn't that just totally RIDICULOUS!? Can't even begin to understand that one!
