Bad Torque converter?

So I have had a knocking sound toward the back of my engine for some time now, ip pulled the engine tranny and t case yesterday and as I was draining the converter I flipped it over and the input into it was very loose and moved all over, could this cause my knock?

The noise is the stator and turbine moving around in there. These are normally held stationary by the input and stator support shaft of the trans when they are installed together. It is normal to hear them move around some when the converter is out of the trans.

it probably has nothing to do with your question, but the knock could be a cracked flex plate..

When I get home from work tomarrow I'm going to check it better but initial inspect looked good
