what's the best range from the ground, for a standard ballhitch tow receiver?

seeing single axle utilities, up to a 2 axle car hauler?

18"? 24"? :dunno: :confused:

trying to figure out Mutt's tube bed and what I can get away with....... :popcorn:

I think 16-17 was ideal for my 14' utility trailer, the SeaDoo trailer around 15", but the 22' jet boat was way up there, like 21-22" but that's a big 3 axle torsion trailer

ok, cool.. I'll try for the 16 to 18 range... more than likely keep it up around 18... higher the better..

I'll try and throw a tape on my burb ball mount, as is.

I tow a lot of different boat trailers, and it works out well, if not just a bit high, on all of them.

yeah that's right, I've seen them.. :doah::haha:

what are the standard drops for those that are reasonable and safe? 4? 6?

I don't think I'd want some goofy one like 10 or 12.... I don't like the idea of the adjustable ones either.. I'd prolly just carry a solid 6" or something...

Paul, I use an adjustable equalizer hitch w/1000lb load bars, and have air bags for leveling the truck when loaded...works great for heavier stuff (like the Maiden) along with a brake pad type sway control. I've never had an issue with sway using that system, even when passed by a semi.
If you need more info on height I can get you my trailer tongue height w/ the deck level, and also the height of my two trucks reciever hitches.

My dad had a 9 inch drop equalizer hitch to pull our old camper it was like 7,000 lbs I tow with a regular 6 inch drop and haven't had any problems what do you plan on towing?

yeah, I just want to be relatively versatile with it.. the lower ya go, the goofier the back of the rig gets in the tube lines...

it's gonna have the gooseneck, and that's what i'll try to get as a hauler..

but for every day here and there going to the dump, moving a boat at the marina/vacay, etc, I'll want the bumper hitch...

16" to the top of the ball mount surface.

I'd aim for 17", with the drop hitch you want to use.
