What the heck is in the ballast on the CUCV Tugs? The large one and the bumper?? They are freaking heavy and I drilled a hole in one and it looks like coal . Need to know what it is so I know what to do with it.

Where are they and any pics???

I know quite a bit about them already, just need to know what this crap in the ballast is. Mine isn't read unless it's powdered lead, like broken pencil lead. It resembles coal. If it's coal I'll make a nice fire,it it's lead I'll contain it somehow in a barrel cause I want to use the steel :D.

As to the actual machine, they had a 6.2/th400/208 setup. 18:1 planetary gears, only good for about 45mph in stock form. The alxes are made by ZF and are very similar to the ones in John Deere MFWD farm tractors. Our 00 JD 6410 has one. With 4link and some 48" or bigger tires and shedding the ballast they would be awsome to wheel. Crab steer too.

Hmmmm does it have a Data plate on the door? Maybe do a search on the number? I thought that was what you were talking about. Did you you get it cheap?

I already parted it out :(. Yeah,I got it real cheap $200 :D  and made a few $$$$ to finance some toys. I need to find another one to play with.
