You missed me didn't ya?

Ok so heres the story.

Yall have seen my past junk and my lack of progress. Basically I tend to over extend myself in a project, then I get the might-as-well virus. You know where you say "well if I'm going to do that and im already that far, I might-as-well do these things too." Then it snowballs and I get over my head.

Whatever....
So my baby bro bought this truck with a bad engine and trans. from one of his friends. The body is really clean and only has 3 small dings in it. You may remember my 91 suburban that I sold to him. I had a bad ass 700r4 built for it then he built a bad ass engine for it. However being a land barge on 10b axles it went through about 6 rears and 2 fronts. And being TBI it was starved for gas with the engine he built. and finally the pretty paint job it had when I bought it turned out to be a craptastic cheapo that started to fade and flake bad.

So baby bro pulled the engines and trans and put the good stuff in this little pickup. He converted it to a carb because TBI wasnt enough for it and aftermarket FI was just too much $.

Fast forward a few months and baby bro is out of $$ and suffering project burnout, and wants to sell it cheap. I know the potential of the truck and offer him a trade. I gave him ALL my 73-87 chevy stuff the CC the general all the parts I have collected, and the parts trucks and my 67 1 ton.

That was the first part of december, now a few months later we have MOST of the bugs worked out and have the truck nearly ready for the road.
Once again I have nearly rebuilt this whole truck the only thing we havent touched is the transfer case. Both axles got new bearings and seals as well as brakes. They also got cleaned really well and fresh fluids.

OK about the truck. It is a 1994 regular cab short bed silverado Z71. It has a 10b rear with G80, 241 x-case, built TH700R4 with all the corvette goodies, the larger 6 gear planitary, set kevlar bands, redline clutches, Blah blah blah. When I had it built I asked for the baddest 700r4 he could build for a street driven vehicle. The engine isa 350 bored .030 over flat top keith black pistons, the biggest cam I have ever run, molly and chrome and lots of other good stuff I cant think of right now. Anyway according to desktop dyno from when he built it its supposed to be around 425hp 450ftlbs.
the truck has a 2.5" front diff drop and is cranked up to level with the rear which has a AAL. Right now it is riding on 31x10.50x15 big o XT's on old gambler 15x8 wheels.

I thought I had more pics, but I must not have them loaded up yet

The plans!
Unfourtunatly, my plans are mostly cosmetic. However there are a few things I would like to do that are a bit more technical.
the bigger plans are as follows.
I have my dads old 94 6 lug 2500 its beat up and wore out but it does have a SF14B rear and 4.11 gears. I plan to pull those clean them up, new bearings seals and a rear locker of some sort and swap them into my truck.
I do have a SAS kit but I dont think I am going to go that far because this truck is going to be my DD with very light wheeling camping only. (I have a wrangler to go wheeling)

My other plans are,
dechrome, demold, debadge
a lund moonvisor
stock style fender flares
95+ style mirrors
A lund shadow cowl/wiper cover
paintable bumpers (perhaps with a few custom modifications)
swap to the 96+ WT grill and headlights (I just think they look tougher and you dont see them as often+ the compsite headlights notoriously suck)
mirrors, grill and bumpers painted black
rhinoliner in black on the quarters and flares.
33" tires on 17x9 XD revolver wheels (probably 285x70x17 tires)
Build a rollbar'ish headache
low profile over the rail toolbox, or maybe a in bed chest that doesnt go over the rails

Possible other plans
2" teardrop cowl hood *really havent decided
4-6" lift *maybe I kinda like the way it sits now though, have to see how it looks with bigger tires
SAS *not likely but you never know

Things that still need to be done asap
Tune it (the big cam is difficult to find a happy medium)
Take it to the trans shop. It has a lock up converter but something about a computer controlled servo motor needs to be swapped to a line pressure switch since I am not running a computer anymore. I will also have them set the TV cable to the propper pressure since its a performance trans.
licence it
get insurance
start driving it, chase bugs

I would also like to find out if I even need the computer and most of the related wire harness. Some people say I can pull it all out and some people say the gauges run off from computer signal ???

WHEW sorry for the long post LMFAO

Oh yea, I got a great deal on a MSD AL6 ignition box, should go quite nicely with the MSD pro billet distributor.
So tomorrow I will install that and finish tuning the truck. After that a visit to the trans shop and it will be ready to lic. insure and drive *at least I hope anyway*

This truck has had a TON of bugs/gremlins for some reason. Nothing serious, just a bunch of small, easily fixed stuff, but enough of them to really drive a guy nuts.

Got her tuned pretty well today. Everything is buttoned up for now so I decided to take it home and BAM damned HIPO pulled me over and gave me a ticket for expired registration. It hasnt been registered for the last 3 years and he said thats too long I tried to explain that I had just got it back running but he wasnt hearing any of it. BASTARD

Anyway on the drive home it never got over about 130-150* so I think the thermostat is stuck open.
I didnt get the MSD 6AL installed either turns out I need a specific wire harness to match it up with the MSD billet dizzy.

Not really much I can do now until I can get it in the trans shop

Lucky he did not impound it, three months expired and they can do that.

Make sure the TV cable is hooked up right before you put to many miles on it or it will toast the trans.

ORD makes a straight axle kit for them, I'm just saying

Yea They can impound them, but how else do you get a truck inspected? I have been told you have to get a temp permit but you need an inspection to get a temp. LOL

Anyway, I read up on how to adjust the TV cable and have it pretty close, but it shifts a little early still.

I have a SAS kit........... Dunno, doubt I will use it.

You can get a temp permit without an inspection, you just have to pay all the registration fees, taxes, and the other crap up front. They give you a paper plate that is good for 2 weeks, and you can legally drive it to get the inspection and other crap done. Just make sure you have proof of insurance when you go to get the temp registration.

I am liking it, but just watch out for that snowball effect.

but just watch out for that snowball effect.

One of the reasons I dont really want to SAS it!
Funny thing is I DO have a SAS kit, A selection of axles including GM D60, ford D60, GM 10B 6 lug, GM 10B 8 lug and a GM 8 lug D44 AND I have a pass drop NP241 x-case out of the suburban.

In other news I have been eyeballing Law enforcement center consoles. You know the modular ones.
I am thinking maybe the 7" version that fits under the dash to the floor. That would allow for a switch pannel on the top a cobra CB pannel in the middle and a pocket under there. It also provides up to 4 aux power outlets (2 per side).

I have bucket seats and no center console.... and that doesnt fill the hole so maybe a tuffy seriesII as well?

*FART NOISE*

Havent done a thing to it. I am broke and my boss is in jail for missing a court date. Judge said no bail cuz hes a flight risk for missing court.

Such a load of crap.

But anyway......

any sugestions comments questions?

I think i'd be lookin' for a new boss. Truck looks good though.

Registered it and put insurance on it today gave it a quick hose down with the small handfull of quarters I had on me.

Replaced a engine mount cross bolt that for some reason wouldnt stay tight *it has lost 2 nuts I think the threads where worn or made shallow or some damn thing*

Cleaned up some under the hood just to satisfy my minimal OCD.

Then this afternoon a friend wanted to see what it has. He drives a 98 ECSB with the vortec 350 and a 5 speed he has tuner exhaust CAI blah blah blah. Needless to say He "THOUGHT" his truck was fast. I flat out left him in my dust, wasnt even a compitition.

And I named my truck today "Mean Girl" on the basis that my friend said that was mean to race him because I knew it wasnt even gunna be close. and because the truck has just been mean to me with all the gremlins and almost constant little repairs.

I need to change the thermostat its only running at about 150 even when I drive it hard.

Been visualizing a front. Haven't looked at the rear yet. Our '97 has miles of hitch welded to the frame by a PO.

Well I can tell you there are not a lot of options for the GMT400 trucks when it comes to winch bumpers! Its a common question on the GMT400 forum as well! Basically Im saying im not the only guy that would like another winch bumper option for these trucks LOL
Remember the old warn 3 piece winch bumpers? I would be extremely happy with a better build simple version like those.

Not familiar with the warn 3 piece.

I don't think we're to far off. SAS will be ready shortly, followed by the flip and then bumpers, tube doors and so forth. Got lots in mind for the 88-98.

Been on the hunt for a job cuz I STILL havent been paid, Im in serious doodoo finacially.

Last week the cheapo "mr gasket" fuel pressure regulator blew appart, and leaked like niagra falls. Got it shut down and avoided an engine fire thank gawd. I ordered a 3 port 2-12lb adjustable bypass regulator for it, it should be here tomorrow. Crazy how things work out I HATE anything "mr gasket" but the regulator I need is made by "mallory" a division of "Mr forking gasket". But it was the only one I found that fit my exact needs that was under $200. It will be nice to regulate the pressure properly rather than just restricting flow, and I will be able to hook the fuel return line back up and have a functioning fuel system. Without a return line it was creating a vaccume in the gas tank, to the point that when I floored it it would starve for gas.

I have seen people do "mossy oak" camo print headliners and interior bits. I have been thinking about doing an old school winter camo (you know the regular black white grey camo) Or possibly the digital print stuff...
