I see a FF under the 79 too.
Yeah its got a decent FF with 3.73 gears. No locker though.

Previous owner neglected it some as you can tell. He did a few upgrades like the NP205 and axles but not so much on the rest.

Today I swapped the damaged tailgate with one that was in better shape. Still had some dents on the bottom which I'll have to get fixed. The homemade hitch made it difficult to get the rear bumper off which was also tweaked pretty good on the drivers side. HUGE thanks to Steve @CK5 for his help today on this!

So you named it after @doubletrouble
I knew he had been stepping out on Nate. Now we know where!
Damn it. Now I have go rename this build... Just a quick build name I thought of for the 2 of them.

Hopefully nobody has the name double jeopardy.... :D

Tried to install 2 aftermarket drivers side fenders with no luck. Fitment was pretty bad. The headlight bezel had a big gap, turn signal hole was too large, door gap was larger, pillar gap looked like crap. Now going to fix the small rust hole in the OEM fender and use the aftermarket fender as the donor metal.20211201_210509.jpg20211201_210654.jpg20211201_211600.jpg20211129_163053.jpg

I'm planning to replace the fenders on my 73 C10 and I was hoping the aftermarket repops would be good enough. Where did yours come from?

One I found someone was selling used. I thought it was a GM fender. NOPE Made in Taiwan sticker on the back I missed.

The other fender I tried was a Sherman.
The sucky thing is I threw out the box... I may try to return it in a my hood box, cut down... Kohls return won't like that box!

Amazon return at Kohls doesn't require a box! They'll still hate you though.

They are asking to bring it to the UPS store. I'll figure out something. May not look perty but it will work. At least I won't be out money for the fender or shipping fees.

On the 79, I got it back from paint. Wasn't impressed with the OER cowl hood for 3 reasons. One is it hits the wipers and you have to dent it on the inside to clear the wipers. Two, is it doesn't have any space with the cowl area if you wanted to run a taller air cleaner. Its all bracing. Three, hood has some larger gaps then it should. Cheap paint job came out good. Swapped the set of wheels/tires for some Procomp 17x9 and 315/70/17 BFG AT's. Looks much better. Still need to add all the trim, front grill/bezels, bumpers, and a bunch of other stuff.

On the seats, I got the covers replaced. At first I was going to stick with the original plaid material but SMS is the only place that stocks that and they wanted $1400 for new covers. Way too much for that so I went with the velour option at $250 for the pair. Came out really nice. Front wrinkles are now gone with some heat. I also have the matching velour rear seat in nice shape.

I don't think that hitch on the'79 is home made. I have a few of those. They are pretty crude, and way overkill, but I have seen enough of them that look just like that to assume someone was selling those at one time.

This definitely looks Billy Bob homemade to me. You can't drop the tank without cutting all the braces. Two C-channel pieces along the top. Is that normal back then???

Yeah, I'll have to get some pictures. I thought the same thing when I drug the first one home. After the second and third one, I thought someone must have been selling those crude POS's.

@82355 LOL thats what it is. Crude POS hitch! :D Good luck trying to pull the tank... Thats when an access panel from above is more tempting. :)

I guess this one is a little less crude than yours, but pretty similar. The receiver running under the fuel tank seemed like serious overkill to me.

@82355 yours definitely looks way better than mine. Mine looks like they went to scrap yard and found bits and pieces and tried to make them all fit with welding rod.

79 Update- Got the front grill knocked out. Not happy with aftermarket fitment but what can you do? Been fighting with the damn tailgate. Window got stuck first time, coming down and had to take it back out.

I found out the other day with an '88 Blazer that the safety switch in the back is only used for rolling the window up. So my guess is that is your problem. I chased SO many wires, assuming that the safety switch was good, because it would roll down from inside.
