BaT - Bring a Trailer auctions.....
Anybody use them as a seller.or buyer?
What were your experiences?

Pondering listing my Blazer to clean out the barn.

I used them. Around $100 to sell. I had them take the pictures and do the write up. $295. You agree on a reserve price. My car sold. I would use them again. They don't sell just any car. They are picking on what they are willing to post on the site.

Just sold my buddies 71 C10. Paid the $295 and had them send a photographer
Went super smooth. Kinda freaked when the buyer had truck picked up on the back of an open transport. Oh well, it was his truck. Would recommend.

Mines in pieces, ready to go into paint.... apprehensive about how to really show whats there. Project was filmed in 35mm... PDFs are unacceptable.

Can't document quality of what's been done

You can add pics from cell phone or cheap digital camera. Other option is take all the 35mm film in and have it scanned to digital. Really inexpensive generally.

I i scanned all images with our scanner.. they become pdf files

Sites want jpegs... Will have to inquire commercial ly.

CG

Does your scanner have a conversion on it. You should be able to select jpegs when you set it up? Most scanners create jpegs first and need to select pdf as secondary.

No, this is an office sized copier / scanner..... Can scan a ream of paper..... Only to PDF files .. guess that's what the Business world wants.

I bought a truck off BaT back in 2017 before it went mainstream, positive experience, would do it again.

I think if you cant agree on reserve price they wont list it. I believe they tell you what the reserve should be, and you have a little wiggle room. Knew someone who had to have a lower reserve because thats what BaT required. Fortunately it sold above what he originally wanted so it worked out in that case, but for a project in pieces dont think it will.

If its a vehicle with emotion tied to it, or alot of work that isnt easy to tell from photos or no receipts, will be hard sell unless no reserve.

BaT is very different now than it was when it was truly bring a trailer to grab the project you just won. I would list a nice square on there but not a project. Most on there want turn key these days.

35mm photos are easy.... Invoices & receipts, there's a shoebox of slips . . . . Easy presentation in person, nebulous inline.

Thinking cars and bids might be a contender.

Blazers home is semi safe.... Property is for sale & the bay is really needed. Reluctantly, may have to shuffle garage bays.

When the bell tolls, there's a final resting place behind the barn.

If you had a few hours to photo/list the parts maybe a part out on here would make sense? Thinking getting a bunch of folks to buy parts is easier then getting 1 to put out a decent chunk and collect it all.:dunno:

And that one person has to have wanted exactly what you had done/parts collected. Part out will bring more money but requires more work to coordinate shipping/pickup etc

Cars &:Bids requires a running car....

BaT is next contender...

This Blazer was a running ) inspected vehicle, before I started the diesel conversion. It had minor visible damage in the floor in the rear passenger area.

It's more of a rebuilder than a parts chopper...Tub/ body is ready to roll into the spray booth. This was intended for a fair weather asphalt queen.

Restoration stopped for lack of parts + uncertainty of floor / firewall modifications for turbo + down pipes. Didn't want to bed liner floor, firewall and complete interior, only to have to strip away and start modifying and welding again.

Blazer is in builds section ....

Chopping up for parts will take way more time than I have.

Could sell body/rolling chassis together and bolt on parts separately. Most people doing a full build will likely want to go aftermarket interior anyways (tmi, or out of newer truck, etc). No chop up required.

Why split it up, if someone is doing a full build? Their going to need all the parts anyway?

Custom interiors are great.... With prices to match...

Full builds from shops like Velocity are nice,. .. no soft money budgets....
