ok so i havent been around lately...
been really busy... but going to try and find time to work on the truck...now that gas is down to $3.45 and dropping I can afford to run the truck... but after I fix a few things..

so I have duralast gold 1000ca batteries under the hood in parallel. Well my drain was 1 was bad and would drain from 14v to 9v in 3 days... the second battery went from 14v to 1.6v in 2 weeks
so im going to buy 2 new batteries..
I can get the duralast gold 1000ca batts from autozone for $100 each (tax and all)
however at advance auto parts I saw a 1110ca battery. They are about the same price..
autocraft farm truck battery
the only problem with that one is it is only top post..
I like the duralast golds as I use the top posts to go from drivers side to passenger side for parallel.... then side posts to frame and starter...
so I would need to buy a top post kit that takes 2 wires (i have seen them at audio stores) they may not be cheap but they would work....
so what batteries would you use?
or recommend a different one?
dual batteries are mainly for the truck... 4 kc lights on front bumper (work) 5 on rollbar (dont work but will eventually) and all other normal truck needs.... so yeah 2x1000ca maybe too much but you can never have too much...

this is all a start as then I will get the stinger 200amp relay hooked up and 63amp alternator upgrade to 140amp.......

im planning on ripping out ALL wires that I have added and redo it all correctly and neatly....

Here is an alternate suggestion. Why not purchase two marine batteries instead. They don't have 1000ca but use thicker heavy duty plates and can tolerate more trail and winch abuse. Also if this is your weekend rider marine batteries loose less voltage, and will tolerate cranking the engine for 30 minutes without internal damage. They cost less and have both top and side terminals.
At the price of gas now I only use my truck about once a month. When I turn the key it immediately cranks and starts, even in the dead of winter. I used to buy a new 1000ca battery every year. They would strangely go bad ( dead cell ). I finally got fed up and bought a marine battery. It's been three years now and the battery has performed flawlessly.
If you use your truck every day any appropriate battery should be reliable.

Hey man. Grille goes on soon I hope.:waytogo:

I think you're probably talking about the Group 31 batteries from Advanced. You can get those just about anywhere but most places don't seem to carry them in stock. Advanced was the only one that had them up here as well. That said...they're big heavy ****ers. CUCV's came with them stock except for many of the trucks still being used now which are being converted over to spiral cell gell batteries. If I had been planning for the future I'd have done something similar as I just had to reorient my front battery and man moving these things are a pain and they're so damn big they suck up your options really quick.:doah:

That said it's nice to have that much juice on tap.:D

true... but now im thinking deep cycle.... just for the sake of handling being drained really low and not minding...
since I originally put in 2 1000ca as the winch was hooked up to under the hood on them plus the truck... I figured the more the better... but now since they are merely for just the truck.... I think I will be fine with the deep cycles....

also my truck sat ALL last year so with that said.. I do want to get in and turn the key... although I could just disconnect them...

don't be fooled by the CCA hype.... :wink1:

as long as the amp draw for any particular system doesn't go higher than the CCA, your fine... And I HIGHLY doubt your ever gonna draw 800... The reserve capacity and cycle life of a good deep cycle FAR outweighs the 100 CCA difference......
