Hi
I installed a battery mat under my battery and after two months it has this fine white fungus like growth on it, all around!

I know it probably has to do with the battery corrosion..

How can i avoid this?

I plan to replace and treat the area again.

I don't know why you would need that, but if you want put something, I hear petroleum jelly on it will prevent this from happening

Battery tray is all brand new. The old one had rusted through. I even replaced the bracket and bolts hilding it up. Even put couple of coats of black anti rust primer over the tray. The pad was meant to absorb battery acid in case of a leakage. But battery has not leaked. I think i will remove the pad, clean the tray and use some oil based acid neutralizer "NOCO NCP2 CB104 4 Oz Oil-Based Brush-On Battery Corrosion Preventative, Corrosion Inhibitor, and Battery Terminal Protector Grease" from amazon.

That acid came from somewhere. Unless it is some weird chemical reaction from mat and piant, and not really acid corrosion
