Battery Guys I Need Help

Ok my three roommates and I are in a huge arguement about batterys going dead buy sittin on cement. I remember reading somewhere that new batterys are design different and that cement doesnt do a damn thing to them, quick replys would be great...hope im right, cuz on of them and I dispute Ford/Chevrolet on a what seems like hourly basis.

You are correct, with the newer batteries, you CAN set them on concrete and they will NOT die.

I never really understood why that happens in the first place.
