Going through some trails and the battery hold down broke and the battery bounced and fell against the manifold. The ensuing short fried my new stereo system. Good times. Anyone make a solid battery mount? Or has anyone relocated their battery to the back before?

I put a bigger than stock battery in my diesel pickup ,so the original hold down couldn't be used..
I made a hold down strap out of a used serpentine belt ,folded over each end and punched a hole in it so I could bolt it to the inside of the fender and at the original hold down bolt hole..used threaded rod so I could take up the slack and make it tight..battery aint going anywhere now..

I never liked the oem hold down that just pinches against the battery--too easy for it to let go or ruin the battery casing..the belt works well,it wont short out against the terminals like a metal hold down or strap, they are very strong and resist battery acid..

My inner fenders are swiss cheese so I had to use the strap,I didn't trust the battery tray alone to hold the battery in place..good thing the battery tray bolts to the inside of the fender because the inner fender or "splash shields are junk,I did put some galvanized sheet metal over the missing or rotted areas, but the metal is so thin from rust it didn't beef them up much..truck really needs a nose, the fenders are patched up junk now ,only part any good might be the radiator support..

One thing that can be used is a small tie down strap. Cut one down to a shorter length, and then wrap it around the battery and battery tray then pull it tight.

I put 2 ac Delco group 34 agm, in my 77, the original battery box plate (pass side) holds the battery fine. The Aux new repop box I installed (driver side) the battery comes lose. I think I need to find a original hold down for aux box.

I think he is doing rock crawling and that puts more strain on the battery.
Only my extreme off road k5 got a strap, everything else was left stock.
Although I ended up with relocated batteries, 2 Optima batteries under my console

Yes sure off road needs a secure system to keep a heavy battery in place.
My current situation, mostly paved, the aux repop tray from LMC won't keep the battery in place.
I think both are going to get 1/4" j bolt and phenolic block hold downs fabricated.

Just ordered one of those chassis unlimited mounts. Looking forward to getting that installed so I can free up one of my ratchet straps again haha.

I simply bolted a race car type battery mount in the factory battery location. It's solid as can be, and that's using the stock battery tray support on one side. The other side bolts to some angle iron, that in turn bolts to the fender.

Now that is NICE!

Honestly it was just dumb luck that it worked out as well as it did. I had to do something after my stock tray rotted out and my battery shorted out on the wheel tub. In the picture, you can still see my fried wiring and the melted hole in the wheel tub, lol.

I used the artec optima mount. Works well. I might move it to the rear when I ls swap and put the hood back on.

Do you currently have it where it's mounted in the factory location? I need to update mine and thinking about running no inner fenders...
