I installed dual bats using an isolator in my 85 Jimmy, the truck starts and runs no problem but the volt meter is in the red and i seems like the truck is running off battery power and no alternator is charging the system. I do have the 4 post isolator but it did not seem like i needed it with my setup. I searched battery set ups and it seems like i wired it correctly. Any help would be great, the only idea i have is it must be the isolator? Help

Thanks
Jesse

What type or kind of isolator did you use? was it just the ford solinoid deal?

Not sure if it would help but ill explain how mine is set up.

Ill go from the AUx battery backwards. The routing of the negative cable from 2nd battery goes straight to the frame, the positive goes from positive side of battery to isolator, from isolator to big ass bus fuse, from fuse it goes to positive side of starter.

Now I did upgrade my Alternator to a mean green one and ran a seperate postivie cable from alternator straight to positive side of my main battery.

not sure this will help or not.

It is just a basic NOCO isolator, alternator is wired to the alt. post, battery 1 to positive side of starting battery and then to starter, battery 2 is wired to post 2 and grounded to frame, battery 2 only does winch and offroad lights. I did not use the fourth poast on the iso, or cahnge any other wires.

thanks
