what do you all recomend for a battery. The old one is a AC Delco that has been on it for 15yrs now... it has been sitting the past several years and is dead now. I like the Delcos but I've read that the quality is not as good now. They went from Delphi to johnson controls

For battery quality and power, an Optima is hard to beat.
Ran one in my Camaro and pulled it out to run in various derby cars, then it went right back into the Camaro when derby week was over.
Have one in my 04 with the 8.1, turns that engine over without issue in the dead of winter. Even after it sits for days. The original AC Delco didn't make it 5 years.

Wal mart specails is what I have started using.

The good the bad, and the ugly on Optima's:

I will run nothing but Interstate batteries. I've been using them for 20+ years and have yet to have a problem with one.

Great thread on the Optima. Cool to also see the manifacture jump into the thread. To bad Gates is not making these any more. Gates ussually makes great products. Personally I would pay higher prices to get a much better part.

Not sure what I'm going to get. I may take my 15yrs old battery to a shop to see if they can restore it. It is fully discharged.
