Hey Guys,
The wiring at my battery terminals is starting to get pretty ugly. I have a 10k front winch connected and a 2 k rear winch (for loading my dirt bike) connected at the battery already and I am adding an ARB dual compressor to the setup as well as switching to dual Windstar fans and the associated wiring for that.

I am looking for recommended options of how to clean this up so it doesn't look like a rats nest. I found a couple things like this which look intriguing:

http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-EBT-B...663456&sr=8-2&keywords=battery+terminal+block

But I would much prefer something that I could connect ring terminals to instead of using set screws.

Any recommendations? What are you guys using?

Thanks,
John

I think you'll find nice stuff used in marine applications. (Edit: is it considered baiting to mention marine expecting Ryoken to post? lol)

I used a terminal off a late 80's or early 90's cadillac. It's basically a huge version of the junction block used on the truck firewalls stock. It's not pretty, but it works.

If I were you, I would probably consider taking an entire fuse/relay center out of one of the more modern vehicles. Those compact 30A relays and mass of fuses is an easy way to go.

I'm sure there are some of those panels that have a battery wire going directly to them. Since they have multiple rows of power feeds, you can choose which fuses (and perhaps relays, haven't looked at those) to have battery 12V, which will have ignition 12V, etc.

i use duel terminal post batterys .

all basic vehicle needs use side post.

then all aftermarket add-ons get a set of marine adaptors on top post and crimp good eyelet to wires and add them in as needed.

i do have a power feed into the cab for my switch box / cb / p.f.e siren unit / light barr feedout and its on a resetable breaker unit out in the engine bay near the battery .

dont use thay fuu fuu car audio stuff. get some good marine grade or service truck duty parts for long life beefy.

ryoken, this looks sweet! What is it called and where can I look for one?

sweetK30, are you running an Optima or just a regular battery? My friends marine Optima has battery posts and a second set of posts for accessory wires which is what got me thinking about it. I have seen those "distribution blocks" (not sure if thats the right name) that you have on the left and right side of your picture in my searches. Do you have pictures of where/how you have those mounted?

Sorry I don't.

It is very similar looking to this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cei-103004 just that it has two threaded studs on it that are connected.

More like this http://bmcautos.com/shop/index.php?..._id=46&zenid=364bf28cf3be98bce75106f7962aed02

Something along the lines of this (without the scary) is what I should have started with http://media.beta.photobucket.com/user/pimpm3/media/91_Civic/IMG_0919.jpg.html?filters[term]=car%20junction%20block%20battery&filters[primary]=images#/user/pimpm3/media/91_Civic/IMG_0919.jpg.html?filters%5Bterm%5D=car%20junction%20block%20battery&filters%5Bprimary%5D=images&_suid=135466728636005565417832976831

that's a blue sea systems dual busbar...

you could have it be pos and neg, or 2 seperate pos's, etc... they have single bank ones too..

it's best to have some sort of junction post/block or busbar downstream of the main battery connections.. multiple connections at the battery should be avoided if possible.. single connection feeding a busbar/power post is best..

Ok, I totally think this is the route I should go. I agree that I want to keep the battery terminals to a single wire if at all possible. I love that you can run one side pos and one side neg on that thing, perfect for what I need.

Would a place like West Marine sell those? Could I mount that directly on a fender well or does it need to be insulated/isolated somehow?

yup, west marine carries blue seas stuff.. whether they have that actual one in your store, don't know... and yeah, you could just mount it to a wheelwell, firewall, etc... the cover is a nice bonus against accidental screwdriver shorts, etc.. but an oncovered works fine too..

interstate 1000ca battery all i run.

breaker bolted to fender by hood hinge. and dist block under devices in the center console sorry no pics.

Ok, as a follow up to this, does anyone know of good brick and mortar type stores that sell high quality electical supplies? When I do this cleanup, I wanna use nice soldered connectors or at least the really high quality crimp connectors.

I don't wanna use those garbage crimp connectors from places like Autozone.

west marine will have quality ancor crimp terminals with built in shrinkwrap...
