Battery tester

Are you not a machinist anymore?

Martin

Nope, was forced to close my shop on September 16 2009. I was out of work for about 6 months then got a cash job as a machinist doing strictly 2.3 Ford cylinder heads and that lasted for just over a year before I landed my current job as an equipment mechanic for a construction rental company.

I remember he started mechaniking a couple years ago for a small equipment rental place.

You are correct BUT it's hardly a small company, with 53 stores across 9 states currently and more coming in the next several years in other states as well.

I didn't say it was a small company. I said small equipment.

Well ok then, still a far cry from "small equipment" as we rent just about every size boom lift available to mankind from a simple 30' knuckle boom to the massive 135' super boom, we have excavators, backhoes, wheel loaders, 5K-6K-8K-10K-12k reach lifts, 5 yard dump trucks, 2000 gallon water trucks, and of course all the 12'-15'-19'-20'-26'-32' scissor lifts that I work on on a daily basis. http://www.sunstateequip.com/

Haha. I don't think you realize what he is (Demon44) is working on.

That makes more sense than.

I guess so, hey. LoL. Perspective is everything. We call that stuff "Lawn & Garden" equipment.

Our water trucks have 60,000 gallon tanks, 6 tires, on 2 axles. We have 4 of those.

Honestly I'm not sure how big a 5 yard dump truck is. But I bet one of our P&H 4100boss shovels with the 100 ton dipper could probably scoop up a half dozen of them at a time. We've got 20 of those at 45 million dollars a pop. And drop them into one of the 400ton 797B Cat haul trucks. We've got 200 of those at 6 million a pop. Never mind the fleet of D11s and D10s, 24H 24M graders, some 16Ms for light vehicle road work. Loaders, we've got four 992G Cat loaders. Dozens of 980 & 988s. And a few WA600 komatsu loaders rigged up with pipe clams and cable reelers.

You win, our stuff isn't anywhere near that big but then again this is RENTAL equipment. :D

That's why I said small equipment. Because it is. I just answered the dudes question....... Accurately as I could. I said small..... equipment...... rental place.

BTW, just because it's rental doesn't mean it has to be small. We've got probably a dozen rental 793 cat trucks on site at any given time too. You can rent 11s and 24s if you want for earth works projects.

I work with a few companies that do a lot of work for CAT. Some small like fuel injector housings. Some large like D-10 frames, 980 axle housings. They call'em banjos, and load them in 100hp mills with fork trucks and overhead 20 ton hoists. If machining is or was your thing this place would give you wood. :eek1:

Pics of some of the small stuff they do leaving for Illinois.

Sorry for the hi jack, just thought a machinist might appreciate.

Cept you can't buy B's anymore. They're 797F, our newest few are F's. We've got two hundred 400ton haul trucks on site.
