Has anyone used a aftermarket style tray in the stock location? I have lost my battery twice and it's in sad looking condition. Post some pictures for mount locations and ideas if you have any.

Thanks.

Had a DIY4X one in my k5. It was decent

I built this one to fit the stock(ish) location. it fits a GP31 so it is longer than the stock one.

Is that the 89-91 tray or what. I cannot even see the tray in that picture. I have an AGM style battery in the stock battery tray in my 85 and it is retained by the stock clamp on the of the tray.

Stock tray is fine.. the stock hold down, isn't.

I built this out of scraps. It's a little over board, and I could have made it better looking. But the battery isn't going anywhere.

The chrome rod is just a piece of 1/4" stainless tube for looks. It's a 1/4"-20 allthread double nutted underneath and a nut on top holding it to the tray. Then all I did is notch the fender on the other side. Removing the battery is just one nylock nut.

The red top optima needs the little snap in adapter to fit the tray correctly. Should come with new optima battery

I built my own after I found that the previous owner had let battery acid eat mine until my battery fell Out and took out the inner fender under it. I was going to go with one from spider customs but I didn’t want to spend the money on it.
