do all trails connect back to the trailhead ???
or are they run one way and exit to a surface road?
or do you run them the opposite way ?

My rig is not street legal so I will have to trailer it to each trail.
So what do I do when I reach the end ????
Risk running the roads back to the trailer ???:doah:

Mine is registered OHV so I trailer to the trail and drive the shoulder back if I cant get in a line of legal rigs on the street. Most trails are 5-15 minutes from town.

Not all trails lead back to the trailhead. You will be road driving unless you can get a ride back to your trailer and go pick it up.

registered OHV,,,is that something that I can get a temporary out of state registration ??

I've got brake lights,,but that's it,,,no headlights,,,no turn signals

I dont think you can get a temp tag. Its quite a process to get a OHV tag.

Just stick with the group on the drive back or leave your rig and get a lift.

I know Hell's Revenge, Metal Masher, Fins n' Things, Gold Bar, and Poison Spider all return back the trail head either because they are a loop or because you go in and out on the same trail. The others I'm not sure about without referring to the Well's book.

However, if you drive the "Trifecta", Poison Spider-Golden Spike-Gold Bar Rim, you will have to drive back to your tow rig. You could work things out with the group so that one person stays back at the end of the trail with all the trail rigs while everyone rides in the "street legal" trucks back to fetch their tow rigs.

If you try to drive a truck that is too highly modified, you may get into trouble. I know last year a few people were hassled just because their tires were sticking out of the fenders too far.

I also know that Gold Bar Rim and Metal Masher have a good spot to park tow rigs just off Hwy 191.

I prefer to drive back out of Pritchett backwards, the road out is RIDICULOUSLY long.

The trail is 3 or 4 miles long, the exit road is closer to 20 and its slow going and rough road most of the way. I think it took us almost 2 hours to drive out after BB last year (because the rain had washed out much of the road).

Metal Masher, Hell's Revenge, Fins & Things, and Area BFE are all loops or close to it. No need to worry about a trail only rig on those.

Poison Spider/Golden Spike/Gold Bar Rim are all one way trails unless you run all three which takes a very long time.

I've never run the rest of the scheduled trails so I can't speak on those.

Utah laws are actually kinda strict, you can't have tires sticking out xx amount from the fenders and you can't have more than xx lift on a truck. They pull people over all the time, but the Moab police are usually cool.

I've driven my truck around in Moab a few times and never got stopped ;)

If you do drive on the road, just dont drive like an idiot and you should be ok.

But, Moab is a small town so pulling people like us over is how they get most of there revenue.

Steel Bender is one-way.
Wipe Out Hill is usually one way, but can be turned into in-and-out.
Flat Iron Mesa is almost a loop, w/ a bit highway in between.

And word on the drive out from the top of Pritchett. It doesn't seem to end.

I don't think any of the guys last year received tickets, they just got stern warnings.

I guess you weren't with us. We make it out at full speed catching air.
Doesn't take long at all :D.

As for driving out of trails, it's up to you but when your stuck in the middle of a bunch of K5's, it's hard to pull you over.

Headlights could be your biggest problem if we get stuck on a trail until late. Hope you have some kinda lights. Or stay near me and I'll light up the whole freekin canyon ;).

I don't think Chris had shocks on his truck last year. So he would have been driving that road like a grandma. :haha:
