It was really that steep :D
At least it captures how steep it FEELS. Pictures never do that kind of thing justice. :wink1:

I heard Chuck drove all the trails and you just got behind the wheel for pictures :eek1:

Finally back home. Thanks to ORD for a fabulous BBQ and great company, and thanks to all my friends for riding the trails with me.

Felt like a long day on Hell's due to all that standing around, running about and taking photos, but wasn't so bad - despite the roll, we were off by 5:30. Good thing Brian was ok, but I must admit it felt pretty stupid to be spotting people down from the Tubs AFTER sh!t had already happened.

Long day on Spike, but better than last year. Spent some time at the ledge where Jason's memorial happened earlier in the day. I like the idea of having Jason's spirit with us everytime we run Gold Bar Rim from now on. Call me silly, but I asked Jason to watch out for us, and I think he did - that broken/locked steering on the Sub could have happened under much worse circumstances. Maybe it was symbolic that it happened right across from the ledge where the memorial happened in the morning...

Rain on Sunday cut my plans short, and I had to leave early anyway for the airport, so we went to Canyonlands out to the overlook, then down the Shafer trail and out to Potash via 13 miles of dirt road.

Back in Moab on Thursday to pick up the truck; Friday we ended up running what must have been the longest Blazer Bash (related) trail ever: down to the Needles section of Canyonlands NP, on the Elephant Hill trail (a regular EJS trail), but instead of the normal in and out, we drove ouf of Elephant Canyon to the south, for a total of 63 (!) miles of trail and dirt road until we hit blacktop at UT275/UT95. Down UT261, down the Moqi Dugway, stayed in Mexican Hat, and the next day on to Fountain Hills with a 30mph headwind and 6-7mpg . Truck is in it's resting place again. I need to do something about the rear suspension this winter, the springs have become so soft that it wraps real easy.

Glad to hear your back to the real world agian Michael.

I wish we would have had more time to spend shootin the breeze this year. It seems that every year BB gets more hectic and we get less and less to catch up.

Hey Jeff, good to meet you and Britney again. Sorry we missed dinner on Saturday; we came out late from 'Spike :D

So that's Jeff descending and then coming up Hell's Gate, and Cricket in front of me on Hell's on the way around Black Hole on Hell's Revenge.

No worries Michael. I figured you were having a late day on the trail. Glad you made it home safely. Thanks for the pic's:) I still need to see if anyone has a pic from the bottom of the escalator when I was denied??? It doesn't look right in the pictures from the top.

Look forward to seeing you and Claudia again next year.

Best Regards,
