I know you have never been exposed to it because of where you live and your wheeling habits...and that is totally fine, but trust all of us when we tell you....when you get bit by the rock crawling bug...everything else will seem just that much more tame :thumb:

:)

I love technical, challenging driving, and I've had my share of it, from taking a motor coach over a rutted two-track to driving across Arctic ocean ice, but my favorite challenging driving is rock crawling. It just doesn't compare to anything else for a challenge and a good time. The most boring part of BB this year was the part of Fins-n-Things that was mostly just sandy two-track, it was also the highest speed I reached on dirt the whole weekend, a whopping 12 mph IIRC.

And you don't need a rig like most of the ones you see here to have a ball, in fact I'll never have one that's any more aggressively built than the Green Machine is now, because then the challenge will be taken away.

So run what ya brung, and get hooked on crawling.

That's an interesting point. I've thought about that same thing a few times myself. Part of what makes taking my truck down there fun and challenging is the fact that I try really, REALLY hard not to have body damage. If I didn't care what it looked like it would take the challenge out of a lot of the stuff down there. It seems like you'd have to move to risking 'life and limb' to get the same feeling. The guys with the banged up trucks are bored on the stuff I still have fun with. On the other hand, there are trails I wouldn't be caught dead on because of the risk of damage. :dunno:

Obviously most guys look at it the other way, but it's something I've thought about too.

Funny story, you know what those of us that have bad ass buggies do in our spare time? Dream about owning a rig with a body on it that has working doors, windows, AC etc. that we can take on trails like Hells Revenge and the Crack and Back to make them fun and "challenging"

I love hardcore gnarly rock crawling, I also really appreciate the full body vehicle side of things.

When I got the first dent from a tree in Colorado, I was bummed. Now, I don't care. I do enjoy not being able to do everything. Gives me something to strive for. Yet, when I watch buggies or whatever you call what Chris drives, I think the challenge is gone.

But I would like to try all of the hard lines. I would like to build something that can be rolled and keep going.

Moab from Texas is a long way but I want to make it and now I have the capability.

I am having that same feeling that I miss my normal 4x4 truck.
In the back I have 100% overboard. See sign line. Then I have towverboard. 37s on a longarm for a towrig. Dumb there.

And then my dd cucv. I am having a very hard time not going full retard on this one too. Only thing saving that is that it drives so damn good. That didn't save the k5 though.
