BB 2017 Picture thread

On Friday I was scheduled to run Hell's Revenge with the big group. I ran in early to take pictures with the drone, unfortunately that SD card died so I only had a few shots from our phones.

On our way in to the picture spot, I managed to cut a sidewall and we noticed a popping sound coming from the frame. We decided to head back to camp to fix the tire and weld the frame back together. Once we got that done, we drove back onto Hell's and caught up with some of the guys playing in Mickey's Hot Tub.

I figured I needed to test out the frame repair and tire plugs so I got into the hot tub too (I had to back out )

Here we see a wild Brandon in his natural habitat telling stories about race days past.

We left the hot tub and headed to escalator, we all ran up it then headed to the BBQ. More drone footage was lost from here...

On Saturday I lead a small group through Pritchett Canyon and Behind the Rocks (backwards).

The last obstacle on Pritchett is Rock Pile. I got up on it, but my rear bumper dug in leaving me stuck... I winched up and everyone else came through.

The last two guys came up on a strap.

Now that everyone finished up Pritchett, we headed into Behind the Rocks. For the record, we started Pritchett at 8:40AM and were at the top of Yellow Hill at 11:45AM.

The first real obstacle you run into on Behind the Rocks backwards is White Knuckle Hill. I managed to drive up onto it, but I was dragging a link so I couldn't get rear traction and had to winch.

It's a great view from the top of White Knuckle Hill, usually you don't appreciate it because you're concentrating on going down it without flopping...

With some spotting help from Stephen, I managed to make it up High Dive without winching!

We all took a break at the top of Sky Dive and headed back out the entrance to the trailers. We finished up at 4:30PM, not bad when we stopped for lunch and a late day break too.

Apparently I forgot to upload the pictures from Sunday and Monday... I'll have to get that later.

Even with the lost drone footage, those are some great photos. That trail looks like a fire at the circus.

I did post up all the drone pictures I have, so I'll throw those up here. It will take me a while to get the video edited and processed.

Some of these have a "return to home" type setting if it gets to far out of range. Didn't know if this one had that option.

You guys look so very, very small from the air. The rocks just dwarf the iron hunks into utter insignificance.

Yes, it will return to home if it loses signal. Home is where it took off from. After this flight I hit the return home button and it would have landed within 3 feet of where it took off (it would have hit my truck so I took over the final decent).

Here's the last two days of our trip. On Sunday we were signed up for Crack N Back, but we took a small group on Rusty Nail first, then out to the Crack and headed back when the rest of the group got there after we ate lunch.

Looking back at No Left Turn

Here you can see Jeep Arch, the cliff next to No Left Turn is visible below and to the right of the arch.

We headed back to camp and loaded the majority of our stuff up, hooked the trailer to the RV, had dinner and said our goodbyes to the people we wouldn't see for another year.

We got up Early on Monday morning, pulled in all the slides, put the remaining stuff away, disconnected everything but power and headed out to do one last trail before we left. We did the second half of Fins N Things just to get our tires on slickrock one last time.

We headed back to camp, loaded up the S-10 on the trailer, disconnected power and hit the road at about 9:15AM.

I'm going to be busy this weekend, but hopefully I'll get some drone videos processed early next week so I can upload them to youtube.
