Just letting you guys know I'm working on possible deals with
Motel 6 and Archway Inn. I'm hoping to get us a good deal for
those that might want to stay in a hotel.
I also have a lead on three houses, some that can fit up to 12 people
if someone or a group are interested. I'm thinking about that because
with another couple guys, it would be cheaper then any hotel.
I'll let you know as I get things worked out.
I don't think the Archway will give us much of a break off the normal
$130 a night but we'll see. I do remember many good times hanging
in the field behind Motel 6 and some stayed there without being in the
motel (wait, I didn't say that). I think part of the group was registered.
Oh! I might need a head count once I figure out the deal.

OK, Hijack off and back to things.
I talked to Archway Inn and they only have a few rooms left and won't do a deal. $170 a night!
Motel 6 is still checking but I booked a room anyway @ $109 a night. I can always
cancel it. Still checking on the houses. I will let you know if I find out anything.
Thay have an art festival that weekend so I'd suggest you book something even
if you have to cancel it later.

Ok, no one wants to work with us because they think they can sell out no matter what.
If any of you have a group and want to rent a house that sleeps 6-8 or so,
Call Scott at 435-259-6057
and check out his houses at http://www.lazylizardhostel.com/index.html
He has Lower Watermellon for 110 per night
and La Casa for $170 per night.
He might have other deals.
If I had a group, I'd check it out because it might work out cheaper then camping?
Having a house to yourself could be a good thing and they're close to the BBQ.
Just an FYI.

Seems like in order to really get a discount, you have to reserve a bunch of rooms in advance. Problem is if they don't all get used, we're stuck holding the bag. That's why we've just left it up to everyone to get a room/campsite on their own. I know one year Brandon got stuck holding the bag on a couple of rooms at one of the hotels.

I know, but back in the day, I was able to work deals for all of us without putting
up for rooms. Too much going on in Moab now so no one wants to work with us.
You'd think that as many times the guys have been to Slick Rock, thery would hook them up. I wish I would have had more time earlier, I would have something.

Yeah, I know in past years there were a couple of places you could say you were with the Blazer Bash event and they would give a discount even though nothing had been worked out ahead of time. I wonder if there could be more success working an angle through the local Chamber of Commerce.
