I wonder if they make something that I can swap two of the carriage bolts out that go through the rear frame that have a hole I can put D rings in? That would be some pretty specific hardware. lol.
Oh, I have been eyeing the Chassis Unlimited rear bumper. Will be powdercoated white and bolted on one of these days, just not in the next 33. lol.
Windshield is not required. Tow points are not either, are they a great idea yes, have we got trucks out with out them yup, were we pissed doing it yup. Have we bent leaf springs doing it, maybe.
My truck had to be winched side ways once, the door pillar worked great as a winch point.

I do have to confess, it irritates me when people don't have tow points. At least the ones that don't have em and end up needing towed.
I don't mind providing a strap or d-ring if someone is lacking those. I also don't mind lending parts and tools. That's the advantage to going with a group like this. Just try to have your rig in good order and everything else will take care of itself.

While we are on the subject of tow points, will this be a good option for in the rear? I would think the weakest point would be the receiver pin. If it is, what would be the best solution?
I think it's a good idea. I carry one in my truck for use when someone at least has a receiver hitch. Came handy in at least 1 snow run.
In my company truck I have a hitch without a ball. A d-ring will fit thru the hole for the ball. It works in a pinch too, usually pulling someone out of the ditch.

That reminds me of a time I was trying to pull a guy out of the mud. His K5 original came from Massachusetts so his truck had the requisite rust. He had one of those receiver d-ring mounts. We managed to tear both side plates of the receiver hitch about 3/4 of the way thru.
I just registered and it hurt a bit........ mainly because I have so many kids who want shirts.
