Due to the number of rigs signed up for the Golden Spike run, I volunteered to help @Bent77 and @4door99 with it.

We've been talking about logistics and here's what we've come up with. The plan is to start out in one group with one of us in the lead, mid, and tail positions. With 3 of us we can help the group thru any spotting needs without holding up the front. If we end up with some serious trail repair need; we will split the group and those that can continue on will do so while the damaged rig is under going repairs with those that hang back to help. This will only happen if it's a serious repair need that's going to take hours to remedy.

We are not technically changing the 8AM start time, but we are changing the location. We will meet at the trail head. Plan to arrive there at about 7:30 because we will be rolling up the trail at 8AM. You need to come fueled up and ready to go.

Golden Spike is an endurance trail. Plan on a 9-10 hour day. There are plenty of challenging obstacles; if you get bored on this trail, you should have signed up for Pritchett. :D
  • Absolutely fill up your gas tank; don't take a chance.
  • Bring plenty of drinking water. It will be hot and there's not a lot of shelter.
Apologies for sounding naggy, but we want to make sure everyone coming does so with their eyes open. Come prepared and don't take anything for granted and you'll have a very fun day on the trail. The great thing is you couldn't find a better group of people to run a challenging trail with.

Yes! You can lead! I will even throw my winch hook on the back of the Jimmy, and reminisce. :D
Did you fix the wench yet?!

Sorry you didn't get a phone call on this. Scott was so excited to lead, I figured you'd be game too!

Ha, Yes! Fresh which and cradle. All replaced after the runaway at BB18.

No phone call was necessary. Game!

We can all chat when we get there, have a good blend of goon and good in this batch

When you don't sleep, how do you determine what's "early" and what's "late"?

Bump

Just so you all know, we are doing an early start time, from the trail head. Be there at 0730
Tires in dirt at 0800

Were already overbooked, so lets make sure we're ready and prepped.
We'll probably do some form of the "3 try rule" on obstacles just so we can keep moving

The “3 try rule” is a must, I think, with a group this large. And it applies from obstacle one, throughout the great day of wheeling. I will also add that this rule also applies to trail leaders. Two shots at the line and someone starts suggesting where the winch point will be. No ruffled feathers, everyone agrees and goes with it.
ITS GOING TO BE A GOOD TIME!!

Does Ed get some kind of special treatment and gets to run in front of the TL because of the magazine thing?

I think the assumption is he'll need some accommodation for the film crew and support personnel sure to be following along.
