BBC engine block

I pulled this motor from a 89 1 ton dually the block code #14015445 says to be 78-90 block.Behind the flywheel it says HI PERF PAS below this a backwards 5 and a backwards 4.Anyone know what 454 I have? Is this motor a basic stock motor or does it have factory performance internals?Thanks

their is a web site where you can type in the block number and it will tell you all about the motor but i forgot the site. sombody on here is sure to know it if it came out of a dually it should have the high torque heads.

The "Hi Perf Pass" designation reffers to a high performance passenger vehicle block. I forget what makes a "Hi Perf" block different, but I believe all later Mk IV blocks were denoted as such - IIRC my Chevy Power Manual says what "Hi Perf" actually reffers to. The "PASS" part means it is a short-deck block (9.8" deck height) designed for passenger vehicles and light duty trucks. GM also made a tall deck (10.2" deck height) Mk IV block, which was only used in medium duty (greater than 1 ton) trucks, and only in displacements of 366 and 427 cubic inches. GM never made a tall deck 454 to my knowledge.

Those are Bowtie blocks. What I meant was that GM never made a production tall deck 454, i.e. they never used it in any production vehicles. Also, a 427 and a 454 both have the same bore size (4.25"), so one could build a 454 on a tall deck production 427 block simply by installing a 454 (4.00" stroke) crankshaft. Thus the nomenclature "454T" doesn't really signify that it is a "454" block, but simply that it is a 4.25" bore block, just like the factory 427 tall deck block.
