i was at a junk yard yesterday helping a friend pull some parts when i saw an engine/ trans waiting for someone to claim. it's a 6.0L 366 ci big block, with tbi injection, supposedly out of a '96 dump truck that was totaled. it was mated to some type of trans, they said an allison? it was much smaller than the allisons they're using behind the big blocks/ duramaxes in 2500/ 3500s. sorry no pix, i forgot my phone
anyway, the only ## i could see were on the back of the block above where the bell housing bolted. c035 in one spot and 10114183 was cast in the next space to the right. the only other ## i could find were 10069272 cast on one of the intake runners. this engine was spotless, even the plug wires look like they had been upgraded.
any one know about these engines? is it the same block as a 454 and can it be worked for some good power? and how about the trans? they wanted $500 for the engine and $500 for the trans. what ecm would you need? just wondering if this would be a good engine to swap into my truck when i start the build up.
