I am swapping a BBC into my truck, and the mechanical fuel pump that came with it is too long/tall. Can I get a shorter mechanical fuel pump that still has the feed, return line, and output to the carb? All the ones I have seen that are short seem only to have the feed and the output. Is the return necessary??

Yes, you can get a shorter pump. I had one on an '84 K30 after I found out the taller pump was rubbing against the crossmember and the vibrations wore a small hole in it causing it to leak gas. Just got a shorter one and the problem was fixed.

Do you know what it was from or the application? I know my short pump from the SBC won't work cause the arm is a different length.
