I know its been talked about before..........

Is there a different motor mount for a bbc than a sbc in the
first Generation????
I think I've heard talk about a thicker mount /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Thanks guys
Steve

Well in a K5 there was never a BBC but a BBC will mount directly to the SBC crossmember BUTT you will have to pull the engine to drop the oil pan.
i installed a 73+ SBC crossmember in my 72 so I can now drop the pan without moving the engine.
I have pics somewere in this fourm I think...

here is one

You can see the ORD engine mounts. The 73+ crossmember runs under the balancer. On our first gens that part runs under the oil pan.

very nice, do you have any pic with the engine out?
I appreciate the help /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I used small block mounts when I put a Gen V in my '72 Sub. I don't know about oil pan clearance on Mark IV engines, but I did have to do a little modification on the Gen V pan to get it to clear the cross member.

Not so good of a pic, this was the early stages of getting the 73+ crossmember to fit:

This pic the xmember is in the wrong spot /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif

This is one with the firstgen xmember removed.

I didn't take any photos with the whole 73+ crossmember inplace with out the engine /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif
