I'll throw this out in case someone has a fully-dressed BBC they can easily throw a ruler on:

I'm trying to estimate clearances between the engine and the not-yet-installed radiator (dual electric fan setup) and all that is on my BBC now is the front harmonic balancer and timing cover.

Basically, this is all I have to work with so far...

I'm trying to get a reasonable measurement from either of those two reference points to figure out how far a long waterpump setup and all the pulleys is likely to be?

I already called the radiator shop and have an overall clearance for those parts....now I'm trying to figure out how far back I can set the radiator (on a custom core support) without clobbering all the pulleys and such.

The setup will include the basics (alternator, ps pump and aftermarket A/C compressor) so my guess is that I'll have at least a dual v-belt on the crank pulley to drive everything.

Any help is appreciated. :waytogo:

I don't know if this is what you are asking for, but the measurement from the front of the timing cover to the tip of the long water pump shaft is 6 3/4 inches. Hope that is what you are looking for. You may want to fudge factor it to 6 7/8", I didn't use a level measuring it.:o Oh, it's an '84 454.
