My engine doesn't have any of the needed accessories, water pump, alternator, power steering pump, or pulleys....well pretty much everything on the front of an engine.....

with the cost of a conversion kit to use small block serp setup, and buying new or rebuilt components, it doesn't seem like this would be to far off to have a bolt on system.

Any thoughts.

PS pump and ALT too? Sounds like a good deal if they are included. Unlike that high dollar polished March stuff.

76zimmer, that kit is cheaper at gmpartsdirect.com ($531, iirc). Freight may make the difference but be sure to check it.

This is the kit that I have had on my crewcab for a couple years.
Works great and alot cheaper to find the sbc brackets at a junkyard.

I have been looking at that route, but for 129 + shipping + the set up from a junk yard + rebuilt alt + rebuilt power steering + rebuilt water pump + pulleys, I think it would exceed this kit price. I just don't think I could put it together with rebuilt components for the price of the kit (531 for the GM part price) I don't want to put a bunch of questionable parts on from a junk truck. If I knew the parts maybe?
Don't you need a BB specific power steering unit also?

why reman all parts.

i get them for under 5 0 bucks for the braketes at the yard.

then use some good parts you have in stock.

but thats up to you.

Anybody running the sbc serp conversion with an a/c delete pulley (instead of a compressor)?

Also, the Quikperf kit is specific about what brackets to use (90-94 350). Anybody know if the same year range 4.3 brackets will work?

The 4.3l brackets are the same. All the pre vortec v8 brackets work, but you want the brackets with double lower holes. They will work with the single however. It will work just fine with the delete pulley also.

Cool! I'm going to a yard today at lunch to look at some trucks for parts. :pimp:

I asked them about A/C delete:

Hi David,

Thanks for your inquiry.

There is an AC-delete kit that consists of an idler pulley mounted on a plate that bolts in the compressor bracket. It's available from most auto parts stores--just ask for a Dorman part number 34152. It should cost about $30.

Let us know how else we can help.

I don't have any of the accessories right now. My truck didn't have an engine in it, and I bought the 454 as engine only, so I will need to buy all that stuff. I haven't had real good luck using junkyard alternators, starters, etc. for a few more $$, I just go with remans or new now.

Very nice!

just called a couple local salvage yards. The ones that could tell me they have something are saying 125-150 for the brackets and idler/tensioner.
Complete setup w/ everything 350 up to 500.
I am waiting to hear from a couple others on their prices.

I also priced new components through Summit for what I would get if I bought these components new.

Those add up to about 425$ but they are new too.
140 amp alt & pulley, new PS pump, new waterpump, pulleys, and belt.
I havent' priced out rebuilts from local auto parts stores yet.

Just checked out the Pace price delivered is $601. hmmm

For those that have used the sbc conversion kit - What about the small strut rods and brackets on the back side of the comp/alt/ps? Did you fab something or go without?

I went to the local u-pull-it Sunday and found the bare brackets for ~$15. :pimp: Btw, mine came from a 4.3 - all the 350 stuff I saw had the smog pump style but the 4.3's were w/o like those pictured with the Quikperf kit.
