Alright everyone, you know how it goes, you see the end "O so CLOSE" but just have to finish those last little things before your up and running again...
Question #1: Does anyone know of a a place to get the BBC serpentine drive accessory kit (less air) cheaper than 538.00? That's the best I've found thus far.
#2 Suggestions on a radiator? I was pricing aluminum and OUCH!...

Should be dropping the drivetrain in this week, driveshaft measurements, lockers, and fire it up!!!

Ok thanks... Part of my problem is locating all the stinking serpentine pulleys... This is ridiculous... The parts guys don't have a clue at my area slow-reilly's... It's almost worth it to me just to pay the 550 and be done with it! I SO don't want to be ready to start this thing and have to be waiting on drive accessories!!!

I have that kwik performace kit on my 454 in my crewcab. The setup works good and it also let me run the pass a/c compressor.

Are these the attaching brackets that go in place of the BBC brackets? Then you just bolt your accessories on...

They are adapters to allow you to run a readily available SBC serpentine setup, on a BBC.

I used the Kwik Performance kit on my 496 and it works great. I went to the local salvage yard and got all the brackets, pulleys and accessories from a 4.3L. The kit tells you what Damper pulley you need by GM part number. The only other thing to remember is to buy a water pump for a 92 up BBC so that the rotation is right since it runs on the back of the belt. I put my kit together for about 300 if you figure in the water pump, the adapters from Kwik and the accessories from the junk yard. I would post pics, but you have to post 15 times before you can link for some odd reason.

Motor is pretty much ready to set in the truck, now.

I wanted to put serpentine drive on the front, but the kit from GM is like $800 so I had to pass until I found this set of plates from Kwik Performance that takes a the serpentine mounts from a small block and adapts them to a big block.

You also have to remember to get a water pump for a 92^ 454 or it will be spinning backward and pumping no water.

Here's the link to the Kit.

Well here's how far I got today. Hillbilly helped me set the hood on quick after work so I should be able to finish it before my other parts show up tomorrow. I was a little peaved that my new tall valve covers wouldn't clear the firewall. I cleaned up my Mike Tyson covers and put them back on. :)

Thanks guys. I found the non-ac deluxe kit for a bbc complete with all accessories for around $500.00 due to timing, (and luckily I sold some stuff for some xtra $$$) I bought it. Prbly coulda done it a little cheaper, but hey time is money...

Where did you buy it? I am looking for the same thing and the cheapest I have found so far is around $560.00.

The place I found is at the website: http://gmperformancepartszone.com/s...-belt-system-without-conditioning-p-6264.html

BUT, I went there as I posted it and its listed as 538.00... Still cheaper than 560.00... Summit has it in stock and will match the price if you can find it cheaper... Hope this helps, got mine installed and boy does it look slick!!! Can't wait to fire this thing up!!! ( I was suppose to do this two weeks ago, but keep running into little "issues")

Thanks,
Summit is about $620.00 delivered. I’m going to look into the price match deal.

I hear you about "little issues" I just found a big old crack in my intake manifold (@#%#@ !!!).

My little "issues" are that we are spending so much time trying to fire it up to listen to it/break it in, that we are riggin alot of stuff up that has to be taken back apart anyway... So we're just gonna finish puttin on the front clip, brakes, and drive shafts into it...THEN start it up... oh and I found that one of the carb stud holes was crap.... That was a fun find....

sounds like your spending lots of dough..........take your time :)
Yeah, I had an actual budget set aside that I had been able to put together for this project and was doing very well. We're here at the end of the project and and the budget and I don't know which is gonna be done first!!!

I hear ya, I had a budget set aside too, I burned through mine in the first three months of my project. Now I just by things as I can afford them............very slowly.

I totally hear ya on that! I've only been truly working on this thing for 1 1/2 months now and I'm about spent... Axles, motor, tranny, t-case, and tires... I have the lockers but they aren't in yet... The "final" purchase will be the new driveshafts... Other than that I pretty much have all the other parts laying in/on/under/near the blazer...
