BBC timing question

Where do big blocks like to be as far as timing goes? Right now it's locked out at 34 degrees but I want to go to mechanical advance. I've got the MSD Pro Billet dizzy and a 6AL. I'm looking at their chart about which color springs and bushings to use and trying to figure out which curve would be the best.

Honestly, it will be mostly street driven and redline on the motor is about 6800 although the rev limiter will be set at 6000. the final setup for my truck will put it cruising at about 2800-3000 rpm. It's a heavily modded performance motor if it makes a difference.

32-36 degrees of total advance in by 2k-3K is generally desirable for a performance BBC with good gearing. Initial advance should be dialed in to get you the idle quality you're looking for.

Total advance should be 34-36 degrees and all in by about 1500rpm. You will need a good dial-a-just timing light or digital advance timing light to figure out how much mechanical advance is in the distributor. Most GM vehicles with a carb like about 8-10 degrees initial advance then make up the rest with vacuum and mechanical.

I'm going to go with the 2 light silver springs and the silver stop. That with a 8-10 degree initial should give me 33-35 degrees all in at about 2000 rpm.
