Ok first i'll admit that I don't know as much as I should about valvetrains.

The problem is that I have had to replace two sets of rocker arm nuts on the 468. I bought another set of replacement nuts and I also bought some ARP perma-loks.

Apparently I have to have screw in rocker studs in order to use the perma loks, but from the reading I have been doing I read that the push in studs can back out and cause issue's. Can this be my problem? both Exhaust nuts on #3 and #5 keep backing off.

Could there be anything else that might be causing this?

the specs are

small peanut heads (worthless)
Xtreme 4x4 X4262H Hydraulic Flat Tappet Camshaft Only
Lift: .505''/.515''
Duration: 262°/270°
RPM Range: 1400-5400
comp cams magnum roller rocker arms 1.7
10.1 pistons.
Edelbrock oval port intake - have to check
edel 750cfm

They only way the pressed in studs can be a problem is if the stud is pulling out. If that were the problem those two studs will be longer then the others.

bbc heads run screw in from factory.

but specific studs have difrent types of threads and require specific nuts to hold clampig force.

if you change any from stock you should first check for pushrod length diffrence and get new if needed.

and some rockers require longer studs installed to get full engagment on nuts. if so you need to swap 1 stud at a time so you dont have to re adjust gide plates.

also how much thread engagement is on the rocker nuts ?

First post says hydraulic, flat tappet in spec list.

I need some clarification on the perma-loks. In order to use the perma-loks you still have to use the rockernut and ball right? My friend is thinking we can just use the perma-loks themselves without nuts but every picture I have seen shows the rocker nuts being used underneath the perma-loks.

i just reread your post, so your sayin the nuts keep backing off right? they shouldnt do that since they are steel lock nuts, if just replacing them with new ones doesnt work then you have another problem, what is the recomended installed height of your valve springs?

another possibiliy is that your nuts arent coming loose but your cam is going flat so you keep tightening them back down to touch, look at the ones you are having a problem with compared to the rest... are they showing more threads? good sign of cam going flat... my 2 cents

Are you using a stock style rocker? If so you will need to use the ball and the nut. If not just use the poly lock, but make sure that the flat spot on the rocker pivot pin is facing up.
