a buddy of mine is gonna pick up a set of weld on bead locks to put on a set of rally's. after you get the tire on the rim how do you mount the bead?

thanks

think of it as not mounting the tire fully. once you get the inside lip of the tire over the outer part of the rim you are pretty much done working the tire on. With a beadlock your are claming the outer bead of the tire to the rim. Instead of mounting the tire like you would normally you are now holding the air in the tire against the backside of the outer bead

ok, thanks one of my friends said use something flammable and a box of matches.

not a good idea.... it can be done but there are better methods. If you are mounting these at home with out a good high volume air source the best way is to take a ratchet strap around the outside of the tire and tighten it up so the middle crunches down and makes the sidewall push into the rim. With a beadlock you only have one bead to worry about, the inner bead. Seating the outside bead is done when you tighten the clamping ring of the beadlock down to the rim.

yes and no... not from the outside without running into clearance issues on your calipers and steering. Some people weld a a piece of 1/4" or 3/8" rod to the inner lip to help strengthen it some. The inside bead doesn't come off as easily as the outer bead does. If you want to run a double beadlock look into Staun internal beadlocks or using two piece rims like Humvee rims or Hutchison rims

well my friend doesnt have too much money to stick into his truck so i guess he just going to order a weld on kit

Once you get all the bolts tightened put the rim onto a 5 gallon bucket with the bead lock up. the weight of the tire will pull it down around the rim enough that you can air it up and pop it over the back safety bead. This method works better than the strap. But you can use both if the tire is wanting a fight.

Or flip it over and to a slight angle so the weight of the rim pulls inner bead in place, to angle because otherwise air hose might get kinked between the tire and floor/ground. Worked well last time I mounted tires to rims.

i have always had the same question about these damn things.... i will be doing this once i get my new rims

wheres a descent place to order them that comes with with the rigs and the hardware... i diont ahve any one around here to get the damn hardware at
