what kind of steel wheels do you guys use for bead locks? also, how wide? pics please!

Trying to find a good set for cheap at a local junkyard. so any help would be great!

I would think the brand is not the big deal. But i also think depending what size tires you are going to use, rim width would be the biggest concern. Most wheels at the yards around here are to narrow. I would try and find a set of wheels with the valve stem located as inward as possible.

I bought the Allied Rockathons. When I started adding up buying new steel wheels and DIY kits. The allieds were $200 a wheel with all the hardware included. Was worth it IMO to just buy pre made beadlocks. Now if you already have the steelies then sure its worth it to get a kit and build them, but I was changing wheels anyway. Just food for thought.

how wide is desirable? Im sure I can find a good set of wheels. I want to run tires that are any where from 38's to 40's.

I thought about just buying a set, but im poor and want to try to make my own if possible. My dads work has a cnc plasma, and he is real good with autocad. He offered to draw them up for me so I figured why not?

Depends on the tire you are going to run. Adding the beadlock ring to the wheel adds an inch of width. I would think a 8in wide wheel would be plenty for most tires. But it depends. I know alot of people that run big wide tires on h1 beadlocks and they not very wide

I would figure out what tire first then go from there. About an 8 inch rim is average. But if you are going 16.5 then get a set of H1 and recenter them. They are dual bead locks.

I don't think that DIY's are all that much $70 or so just looked, plasma table or not unless its free steel they aren't going to be much more expensive.

figured the steel will be 120 give or take. and most diy beadlocks Ive seen are around 70 each wheel unless im reading it wrong. I would like h1's, but money is a concern.
