Hey guys, it's been a while since I've been around, but it's getting warmer out there and I have money to burn.

I'm looking for beadlocks and new tires. My rig is a 3/4-ton and I'm looking for tires in the 35" to 37" range. Here's my question: those of you who have beadlock wheels, do you like the ones you got? if so, where did you get them?

What tire did you go with? What rim size? I'd like some testimonials here and maybe some pics with your wheel sizes (width and backspacing) posted so I can get an idea of the look I will get.

It'll be nice to start new with the wheels and tires, but I don't want to drop $2k on a sub par setup.

Adam

I've got H1's with the Goodyear MT's but haven't used them yet. I'm gonna get some Swampers of some sort and some size later.
These rims have the Hutchinson rubber run-flats. I'd say this setup is about the best combo you can run providing you operate the correct axles in which this case are the DRW D60 and D70HD axles.

I've got a 14b/10b setup and don't plan on changing, unless I do with a D60 in the front.

Anyone use these? http://www.high-impact.net/wheels/index.htm

They seem like a reasonable beadlock for a good price. I'm mainly concerned about the backspacing people have used. Also a general beadlock question... some of these places sell a "double beadlock." Is that really necessary?

Adam

How often are you blowing beads now???? Do you really "need" them?

I've run Champion Beadlocks with good results. Very high quality and they can add beadlocks for around $140/wheel(for aluminum). Allied is good quality for steelies.

I know you don't see these tires, unless its on a 12" lifted 24" wheel rig, but the Toyo Open Country M/T is my favorite tire. Great road manners, best load rating, and they flat out hook up in the rocks, snow, rain, light mud, and sand. I've run 37x13.5x17 on my old Excursion Tow rig and 35x13.5x15 on my old 4runner crawler. Best all around tire on the market. Not exactly cheap, but worth it.

If my new rig hadn't come with brand new 37" MTRs I would put another set on it. Way better in wet conditions than the MTRs are.

Considering we are pretty much neighbors and deal with the same weather patterns, I would say the Toyos are perfect for you.

H1's with USA6x6 Inserts
Paid 40 each for H1's and 40 each for the inserts.

If you are SRW width, you'll need spacers (another 200 bucks)

All in all worth it, you get a double beadlock.

I run Allied beadlocks that I got from porc. The lock ring centers the bead, the ring itself seems tough enough to take abuse and the price was good (less than the link you provided).

Well, I really haven't been wheeling much, but I'm in a building phase for the next couple of months. I'd like to be better safe than sorry with my bead and I'd especially like to be able to air down on the trail. The truck is not a daily driver, and I think it saw maybe 500 miles of usage last year.

Where do you pick up H1 wheels for $40? I'd be interested to find that nugget of info. :)

Adam

i will sell you some H1's for 25 bucks a peice if you buy my 38's for them.... :D ....by the way i run H1's w/ USA6x6 inserts and they are bad ass...

Hmm, I can't see those links. I'll have to renew my membership I suppose. Until then, I might be interested... I can't seem to find any H1 wheels online, as most google results are for old "For sale" threads.

What can you tell me about them?

I run Walker Evans beadlocks and love them. I run them on the street with no issues at all. I have never had any bolts come loose. I currently run them with 37" MT/R's. I shopped around 2 years ago when I bought them. I got them pretty much at cost so I doubt you will find them for what I paid.

yea, they are kinda narrow....and the backspacing is like 7-8 inches, but that can be over come by re-centering them (which most ppl do) or using dually hubs....but they are a DOUBLE beadlock, and there are only 12 bolts (old ones have 8 bolts) to mess with....also they hold air really good....i think they look bad-ass....i wish you could see the pictures....

I don't believe all the fuss over width for just trail toys. Last weekend I mounted one of my 49's on a stock width hummer wheel and I intend to run them that way. If I can shove a 21" wide tire on an 8" wide rim and be satisfied with the results, I wouldn't see a problem doing it with a smaller/narrower tire.

I've had my 42x14R15 IROKs on 15x8's and 15x10's. I really prefer the 10" wide wheel.

I thought I liked the 8" wide wheel just fine until I tried the 10".

Yeah, I think I may go with a 10" width high-impact or allied beadlock. I don't really want to deal with a recentering or spacers.
