WhiteKnight,
I'm not sure who you spoke with, but I ordered my 16.5's around June 2002.....I can believe that they might not have any on the shelf, but they should certainly be able to make you a set.
K2orion,
There are plenty of ways to secure a 16.5" tire... you have your heart set on a conventional beadlock, and that's fine. Like you, I drive my truck on the street quite a bit..... it went 1000 miles to Moab and 1000 miles back home....on bias ply Swampers!!!! It's also made numerous trips to Pismo Beach (about 4 hours away) and even more trips to Hollister Hills (about 1.25 hours away). I would NOT have wanted to do those trips with a normal beadlocked wheel setup. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Maybe I'm just biased after watching Jason (Willyswanter) almost get killed on I-70 outside of Salt Lake City, UT when his Hummer beadlock broke into two pieces at highways speeds.... it's the kind of experience that you don't soon forget!!!
You intially posted up looking for beadlock ideas... I suggested a system that I like a lot, and wouldn't trade for anything else. But I honestly didn't expect you to rush out and buy a set just because I said they're cool.......
