Beadlocks - street driven

My H1's will cost me right at 131.00 each. But that's not counting having my centers shipped. I think at bang for the buck, the H1's are hard to beat. My per wheel price breaks down like this:

30.00 - wheel
32.00 - center (pressed USA6x6)
35.00 - cut out old center / install new
30.00 - rock ring and install
4.00 - rebar ring for backside of wheel (friend had them made)

I'm having a total of 5 wheels done. I'll be installing the rebar rings myself when I get the wheels back.

I'll be using my cut down mag runflats. Unfortuntaly my woodworking bandsaw runs too fast to keep the blade (metal cutting) alive to cut mine down. Not to mention I can't get them cut down as much as I want, due to some clearance issues on the saw. So, my friend is taking them to work to cut them down for me. I'll pay him a little something for the favor, so that too would have to add to the per wheel cost, but it won't be anything major.

I sent my wheels to Creative Engineering Off Road to be recentered. I've heard great things about their work. Everyone says thier centering jobs come out straight and true, so it's worth paying to have it done since mine will see highway speeds. Another member from here is taking them for me, on his way home (going to college here), for a little extra gas money.

But when I'm done, I'll end up with double beadlocks that have a rock ring on the front, and a reinforcement ring on the back, for around the price of some nice standard rims. It can be done for cheaper than that, but seeing as how they will be on the street (more often at first, less later on) I think it's worth it, especially since it really isn't costing all that much when you think of what you're getting.

Yeah, H1's would definitely be the ultimate if you had tires made for 16.5" rims. I bought my boggers used so there was no choice. I'm definitely gonna make the switch in the future though.

I hear ya, brother. Sometimes you have to make do with what you have. I wish I could get the same (H1) with a 17" rim. I really think the market is going, and will go more towards those wheel sizes. I don't think there will be a day, anytime soon, when the 16.5 doesn't have some options. But I think they will eventually be limited. I hope not, but it's sort of looking that way to a degree already. I can imagine a day when a great new tire comes out, and they don't even offer it in a 16.5. I hope I'm wrong. Maybe the amount of off roaders with 16.5's will help keep them alive a while longer.

I guess if I get a good handful of years out of my H1's, they'll have served their purpose. I can always see about something else later on down the road if need be.

i wish the h1's were 17s as well. im going to eventually go H2's and look into get them beadlocked
